Ahmic Lake Boathouse

Site Plan

This is a three-slip boathouse with an 1100 sf second floor guesthouse in Central Ontario lake country. The simple form of the building orients the visitor to the central aspects of the landscape. At the tip of the peninsula where the wide, expansive water surrounds the dense forest, the stunning sunsets and dramatic weather are emphasized. At the lower level, a central breezeway creates a dog-trot building form which frames the passage from forest to water. An exterior stair perched over the water winds up to the upper level, where the grand, longhouse-like roof, extensive walls of glass of the great room, and the decks, orient the space to the movement and setting of the sun. The house is under construction and is scheduled for completion in spring 2002.
