The trellis
|
This project consists of an extensive renovation, garden, and garage design for a 1920s semi-detached house in Toronto. Like many houses of this era, the kitchen was cut off from the garden by a lean-to mudroom, which also provided basement access. A new expanse of glass replaces a solid brick wall, making a deliberately direct connection to the new garden. The space of the rectangular garden is book-ended by a new garage with cedar-trellised front at one end, and an outdoor "room" of cedar and copper walls, floors, and pergola roof at the house end. Interior renovations include a reorganzed kitchen and second floor, new bathroom with glass mosaic tile and custom terrazzo vanity, new bedroom with custom millwork, and a new cherry floor and stair.
