Open Frame and Frosted Glass Appliance Garage

Renovations to this house include the ground and third floors, and the garden. The ground floor renovation included new finishes, including bamboo flooring and a paint scheme, a total rethinking of the lighting and relationship between dining room, kitchen and garden (also by PLANT). The kitchen was carefully designed around the ergonomics of the tall clients. The open plan provides plenty of light and view for the chefs, while also carefully preserving their privacy and right to piles of dirty dishes. Large frames in the cabinets provide showcase places for art and objects. The kitchen is modern, but the cherry wood, some of which is dyed deep blue to match the watery blue glass tiles and frosted glass, provides an easy reconciliation with the client’s antique furniture.

Renovations to the third floor transformed the attic into a master bedroom suite – with large sliding cherry doors on extensive closets, a full wall window seat and bay for looking at the garden and tree canopies, and a wall of bookshelves with built in bed and side tables.
